Media and the truth, #CDCWhistleblower story continues to be ignored

Brian Williams memeThe Media has been taking a pounding this past week with all of the stories about Brian Williams.

The fourth estate is supposed to be the entity in our society that holds the powers that be accountable to the people.

Sharyl Attkisson did a powerful Ted Talk this past week outlining the tactics used by powerful corporations to bypass media gatekeepers and talk directly to consumers without being held accountable for their lies.  She did a great job of outing Wikipedia as a fraudulent web site and also pointed to the fact that many so called citizen groups on the internet are in fact funded by Big Pharma.  I would also add that huge swaths of the mommy blogging world are also funded by drug money and all that a blogger has to do is say that she is not vaccinating her children or selectively vaccinating and that is enough to drive a stake through any hopes of monetizing her blog.

“In this eye-opening talk, veteran investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson shows how astroturf, or fake grassroots movements funded by political, corporate, or other special interests very effectively manipulate and distort media messages.

Sharyl Attkisson is an investigative journalist based in Washington D.C. She is currently writing a book entitled Stonewalled (Harper Collins), which addresses the unseen influences of corporations and special interests on the information and images the public receives every day in the news and elsewhere. For twenty years (through March 2014), Attkisson was a correspondent for CBS News.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.”

Bloggers and other independent journalists have been called the Fifth Estate.  And we have been routinely doing the hard work of journalism while the highly paid yokels who work as big pharma whores have used their bully pulpits to do the bidding of their masters.

Maureen Down chimed in with her column at the New York Times outing Brian as a liar who was continually inflating his biography.

She said:

“With no pushback from the brass at NBC, Williams has spent years fervently “courting celebrity,” as The Hollywood Reporter put it, guest starring on “30 Rock,” slow-jamming the news with Jimmy Fallon and regaling David Letterman with his faux heroics: “Two of our four helicopters were hit by ground fire, including the one I was in, RPG and AK-47.”

As his profession shrinks and softens, Williams felt compelled to try to steal the kind of glory that can only be earned the hard way.”

The story this past week that most strongly highlights that lack of real journalism in America is the #CDCWhistleblower story that has been ripping around the internet for months with only one mainstream article that I am aware of.  This past week the Daily Caller did a story on it that was fair and widely shared on social media.

I did a radio show last Sunday and added my voice to the mix of those on the web yelling about this story.

I do not know or understand what it is going to take to break through the wall of disinformation that is currently flooding the media, social media, and the blogging world around the frauds tied to the Measles Story. I guess we should just keep yelling and hope that at some point we will hit critical mass and the floodgates will open.

I look forward to that day.

Until then?

Just remember that the world is upside down and eventually it is going to be turned right side up.
